Manjilas Double Horse (മഞ്ഞിലാസ് ഡബിൾ ഹോഴ്സ്) is an Indian brand of packaged foods owned by Manjilas Food Tech Pvt Ltd[4][5], headquartered in Thrissur, Kerala. Double Horse food brand consists of a large portfolio of products – rice, rice flours, health foods, ready-to-cook, and ready-to-eat products, naturally preserved pickles, Wheat Products, Breakfast Food, spices, and masala powders[6], curry pastes etc. The products are available all over India and are exported to the Middle East,United States, Australia, Canada, Singapore, South Africa, and European Union[7]

Manjilas Double Horse was founded in 1959 by Late Sri M.O. John. He was also the founder general secretary of the association of the business community of Kerala, known as Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi.[8] From 1993 to 2000 he was the president of the Thrissur Chamber of Commerce.[9] Manjilas, the mother brand of Double Horse, started off with rice-milling and trading of high-quality grains. The group, which had a humble beginning in 1959 as a rice mill, currently holds about 40% market share in the sector.[10] The brand is present in 25 countries, with almost 33% of its turnover coming from exports as of 2013. Their first rice milling plant was established in 1961 at Kuttur, in Thrissur district of Kerala. This was followed by a second plant at Kottekkad in 1979 and a third plant at Cheramangalam, Thrissur in 1997. Manjilas Food Tech Private Limited's plant was also the first ISO 9001:2000 certified rice mill plant in Kerala. To cater to its customers in South India, the group has set up a processing unit in Pollachi.[11]

Padmashri Ms. Shobhana, renowned danseuse, symbolized the Manjilas tradition as a brand ambassador in the year 2009.[12][13] Master Kicha aka Nihal Raj, the 6 years old chef, who inspired food lovers around the world with his mouth-watering delicacies became the brand ambassador for Double Horse snacking range.[14][15] In 2019, the famous actress and playback singer Ms Mamtha Mohandas, moulded herself to become the trendy & traditional brand ambassador for Double Horse.[16][17][18]

Philanthropy[edit]
CSR activities conducted by M.O. John Foundation, an entity formed in the memory of the founder of Double Horse, focuses on addressing the social, environmental and economic needs of the marginalized or underprivileged sections of the society. As a part of their 60th anniversary celebrations, they offered scholarships to students in the field of food.[24]
Minister KT Jaleel distributed prizes at Mathrubhumi's 'Nalla Nagram' award ceremony. 'Nalla Nagram' means 'The Best City' in Malayalam. 'Nalla Nagaram' was jointly organized by Mathrubhumi and Double Horse in the year 2017. The capital city of Thiruvananthapuram won the prize for the best city.[25][26]
