Hassan Reehaan (born March 7, 1998) is a Maldivian singer-songwriter, and dancer. He began his career as a dancer for the Heyriaa Boduberu Group at the age of 14. He was promoted to the Heyriaa Boduberu Group's senior Boduberu group, known as the Faruma Boduberu Group, playing a huge role in their first Boduberu video song, "Kolhigandu" [1] (winner of the 2013 Boduberu challenge in 2014,[2]).

Early life

Reehaan was born on March 7, 1998, in Meedhoo (Raa Atoll), at the Meedhoo Health Centre. He is the seventh child of Hussain Rasheed (Dhonbe) and Aiminath Shakeela (Dhahtha).

Reehaan attended primary and secondary school at the Raa Atoll Education Centre, while he learned most of his dancing and singing from Mohammed Hamdhaan and Hussain Nishad, who were his classmates.

Career

Reehaan and his friend Hamdhaan were interested in Boduberu culture and decided to form their own group and perform for local people. "Thangandu Boduberu Group" was started by the two young friends in early 2010. They recruited friends to join their group and help Boduberu grow. Reehaan was the lead dancer, teaching young students and promoting the art of dance to young people. Due to problems, "Thangadu Boduberu Group" disbanded and everyone left.

Reehaan was then recruited by Mohammed Ameer to join the "Heyriaa Boduberu Group," which performed on nearby islands and at tourist resorts. He spent a year there, learning other dances (Dubstep, Dance-rock) and gaining fame for his skill and ability as a dancer.

Hussain Nishad then encouraged Reehaan to join a better group to improve and gain international recognition. He joined Faruma Boduberu Group, the reigning champion of the Boduberu Challenge 2013. He excelled but, due to a lack of communication and confidence, Reehaan left the Faruma Boduberu Group.

A young dubstep recruiter, Rizwaan, saw Reehaan perform and recruited him to Charotix Crew, a young international dubstep dance group from the Maldives. He improved significantly and performed at special occasions, including New Year shows in Malé.

After moving between groups, "Habeys Saif," an international Boduberu group recruiter, saw Reehaan perform with Charotix Crew and invited him to audition. Impressed by his skills, Reehaan was recruited for the Habeys Boduberu group, where he currently performs.
