Headout Inc. is an online platform for locals and tourists to discover and book tours, excursions, day trips and get last-minute tickets to major tourist attractions, museums, shows and events.[1][2][3][4] It was founded by Varun Khona, Suren Sultania, and Vikram Jit Singh in 2014 with headquarters in New York, USA.[2][5][6][7]
History[edit]
Headquartered in New York, Headout was founded in 2014 by Varun Khona (CEO), Suren Sultania (COO) and Vikramjit Singh (CTO).[8][9] Headout offers experiences and travel activities in 15 major cities around the world including New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, London, Dubai, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid and Amsterdam.[10][11]
In 2015, Headout had raised a $1.8 million seed round from Version One Ventures, 500 Startups, Nexus Venture Partners and Arena Ventures.[12][13] In 2018, Headout raised $10 million, bringing the total funding to $12 million. This recent investment was made by Nexus Venture Partners and Version One Ventures.[8][14][15]
Headout Platform[edit]
Founded in 2015, Headout serves as a mobile marketplace that aggregates third-party activities, tours and tickets for tourists and locals.[7] Local tour operators can partner and list their activities and experiences on headout. These experiences can be booked from the Headout website or through iOS and Android apps.[8][2][16][17]
The company has four major competitors in this market, Klook, TripAdvisor-owned Viator, Get Your Guide and Airbnb’s Experiences feature.[18][19]
