Her Football Hub (sometimes referred to as HFH) is a female sports news website. Specialising in, but not limited to women's football, Her Football Hub covers a range of female sport. Founded in 2019 by journalists Drew Diamond,[1] Georgia Goulding,[2] and Taylor Kujawa. Her Football Hub has around 40 staff members working remotely across the world.

Coverage[edit]

The outlet has produced over 500 articles since its foundation. Her Football Hub produces content in the form of podcasts, written articles, filmed features, social media content[3] amongst other mediums. Her Football Hub has known to be listed as an inspiration for other outlets and women's football fan groups.[4]

Her Football signed a collaborative partnership alongside a sponsorship deal with SRUSA, a scholarship and recruitment programme helping young female footballers find college places in the United States.[5] SRUSA head of women's soccer and former professional footballer, Jon Maloney stated the reason behind the deal was because, "This partnership will give our players another platform to be seen and heard".[6] Her Football Hub also have a coverage partnership alongside Nova TV with the Athens Women's Football Summit.[7][8]

Her Football Hub features columns on women's football in countries such as Poland, Germany, Italy, Spain and Scotland alongside regular tactical columns.[9]

International headlines[edit]

Her Football Hub exclusives have featured internationally[10][11] in publications such as The Mirror[12] and The Echo.[13] Amongst the most notable is an exclusive with South Korea captain Cho So-Hyun.[14]

Ethics[edit]

Her Football Hub have gone on record several times regarding current events or political matters. On June 1, 2020, the outlet published an article aligning their support of the Black Lives Matter movement and directing readers where they can lend their support.[15]

In January 2021 the outlet also lent its support via a social media posting on Twitter, which was later referenced in a report on by The Telegraph to former England international Karen Carney in relation to the misogynistic abuse she received after a tweet from Leeds United F.C.[16]

In an interview feature, founder Drew Diamond spoke about the decision to include pronouns with the staff pages on the main website. “We want Her Football Hub to be a safe space. It’s why our staff page on the website has the teams’ pronouns on there, so everyone who visits the site will know we are aware of the relevance of things like that."

The feature also went on to elaborate about the importance of ethical investment "In the past we’ve refused investment and support from betting and gambling companies to avoid triggering anyone, it needs to remain as safe a space as possible [for the readership].”[17]

Awards[edit]

Her Football Hub are known to regularly publish awards such as Team of the Month,[18][19] Team of the Week,[20][21] and Team of the Year[22] for many of the worlds major women's football leagues. Many of the teams and players nominated acknowledge the awards publicly.[23][24][25]

The annual Her Football Hub awards often include high-profile guest judges. Examples of these over the awards inception have been Commonwealth gold medal boxer, Stacey Copeland, former England footballer Fern Whelan and then Crystal Palace footballer Amber Stobbs.[26] Categories vary but include world footballer of the year,[27][28] rising star,[29][30] and club of the year.[31]

Her Football Hub were nominated for 'best business in women's football' at the 2020 and the 2021 Football Content Awards.[32][33]
