Hispachan is an anonymous imageboard in Spanish, similar to other ones like 4chan and 8chan, for Spanish-speaking audiences.

Its main feature is the anonymity it offers to the users, called "anónimo". Hispachan doesn't have user accounts so the discussion is always about the content posted (politics, videogames, TV, Anime...) and not about the post authors, unlike on traditional forums.

From the beginning, controversies are usual on Hispachan. Vice Magazine describes it as "a site for completely anonymous Spanish-language discussion that has proven popular among hackers since its launch in 2012".[1]. El Universal points out that «(on Hispachan) hate threads about religion, races and women are very common».[2]

Hispachan's creator and administrator remains anonymous and unknown.[3]

History

Users anonymity has led the site to protagonize several controversies:

  • In June 2019 VICE Spain accused Hispachan of being a "collaborative misogyny" website.[4] eldiario.es says the website is legal and "it collaborates with the authorities as they are obliged by the law", despite of the complaints on social networks.[5]
  • In February 2019 Hispachan users boycotted the funding of Nido.org, network dedicated to share child pornography and "revenge porn"[6]. Due to this, the network administrator committed suicide.
  • In January 2017 a shooting in a school in Monterrey (Mexico) was previously announced on Hispachan.[7]
  • In December 2015 Hispachan users hacked CANTV main web portal.[8]
  • In January 2015, Raúl Robles, CISEN technological adviser was murdered presumably by a Hispachan user.[9]
  • On December 2013 Mossos d'Esquadra asked the court for the deletion of homophobic posts from a group dedicated to record bullying to homosexual people and posting the videos online.[10][11]
