History of rugby union matches between France and Japan
The first match between France and Japan was in 1973. The fixture has been one-sided since the first match, despite one draw in 2017.
Although France is Japan's sixth most played team in Europe, Japan has played more fixture's against France's “XV” side than any other. Until 2022, Japan had played against France XV more than France's full international team.
In 2022 the two teams met in a first test series tour, hosted by Japan. France won the series 2–0.[1][2]
