Humphrey "King Cobra" Mulenga(born 14 June 2003) is a Zambian professional mixed martial artist known for his aggressive striking and rapid finishes. He holds a professional MMA record of 6 wins and 3 losses. Competing primarily in the lightweight division, Mulenga became the first Zambian to contest for the EFC Lightweight Title against Igeu Kabesa at EFC 115 in South Africa.[1][2][3] He has gained recognition within African MMA circuits, particularly through his performances in the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) and UAE Warriors promotions.[4][5][6]
Early Life and Background
Born in Zambia, Mulenga began his martial arts journey with a background in Kyokushin Karate. He later transitioned to mixed martial arts, training under Ulemu Fighting Academy and later under Demarte Pena at The Wolf Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa.[7]
Professional MMA Career
Mulenga made his professional debut in November 2021 at Scuffle Combat 1, where he secured a first-round TKO victory over Chadrack Lomboto. He followed this with a disqualification loss to Patrick Ocheme in February 2022 due to an accidental knee. However, Mulenga quickly rebounded, winning six consecutive bouts, all by stoppage, including notable victories over Guelor Sondi (submission), Albaraa Salah Al-Din (KO via elbows), and Cole Henning (TKO).[8][9]
His performance at EFC 109 in November 2023, where he defeated Henning with a knee and punches in the first round, propelled him into title contention . In July 2024, Mulenga faced Igeu Kabesa for the EFC lightweight title at EFC 115 but was submitted in the first round by rear-naked choke.[1]
