Ilona Buchem
Ilona Buchem (* April 16, 1976) is a german communication scientist. She is professor for communication science and media studies at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin at the department No I economics and social sciences.[1]
Career[edit]
Ilona Buchem studied communication science at the Concordia University in the USA and educational science at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany. Ilona Buchem holds a master's degree in applied linguistics from the University of Warsaw.[2] She also received a certificate in business administration from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.[3]
In 2009, Buchem completed her doctorate (PhD) in business education at the Humboldt University of Berlin. She worked on her dissertation as part of her job at Daimler AG where she designed and evaluated technology-based learning solutions for the sales department.[2]
Teaching[edit]
Ilona Buchem teaches at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin in the fields of digital media, corporate communication, project management and digital learning in the courses of business administration (bachelor's degree) and media informatics (master's degree)[1]
She also acts as digitization officer and head of the laboratory for communication in department No. I economics and social sciences. She is also a member of the digitization commission of the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin.[1]

- digitization, digital transformation und digital leadership in organisations
- digital competence badges / Open Badges for the recognition of achievements
- communication and cooperation processes in digital environments
- use of Gamification in learning and cooperation environments
- digital learning formats with wearable technologies (Wearable Enhanced Learning)

Ilona Buchem is the chairperson of the SIG WELL Special Interest Group "Wearable Enhanced Learning" at the European Association of Technology Enhanced Learning (EATEL)[5] and member of the Online Educa Berlin, Hochschulforum Digitalisierung, EDEN, Gesellschaft für Medien in der Wissenschaft and ICALT. Buchem also cooperates with national and international universities and organizations in the context of her teaching and research activities.[1] In addition, she works for journals as an expert and was a member of the program committee of several academic conferences.[6]
