Roland Folz (born February 15, 1964 in Neu-Ulm) is a German bank manager.[1] who has been under investigation for financial fraud since January 2022.[2]

Background[edit]

From June 1, 2009, Folz was Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Private Business Clients (PBC) division of Deutsche Bank AG and a member of the Management Board of DB Private and Corporate Bank AG[3]. Roland Folz left the Management Board of DB Private and Corporate Bank AG in 2014. He held other CFO positions within Deutsche Bank until he finally left in 2016.

Folz has also held various supervisory board positions for many years, currently at Nürnberger Beteiligungs-AG[4], the DB Private and Corporate Bank AG[5] as well as the Studio Babelsberg AG[6]

Since February 1, 2017, Roland Folz has been CEO of Solarisbank[7][8][9][10]

Criminal Investigation[edit]

On 23 December 2021, Folz was concurrently appointed as the director of seven different financial firms,[11] all of which are based in England.[12] Subsequent to this suspicious coincidence, in January 2022 the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority of Germany sent an auditor to investigate Solarisbank for its cooperation with scammers, money laundering and failure to comply with legal regulations.[13][14] Folz denied that Solarisbank was intentionally aiding criminals in spite of over one million suspicious new online accounts having been opened in 2021.[15] Nonetheless, to avoid prosecution, Folz has announced that he intends to move his operations to Asia[16] and Eastern Europe instead.[17]
