Infection is a death metal band founded in 2006 by Antonio Palacios and Giuliano Canessa, in Lima, Peru, playing metal in the vein of Cannibal Corpse, Monstrosity, and Death. Songs of the band were included in cover-mount CDs of publications such as Metal Hammer Magazine [1] [2] and Zero Tolerance [3]. Both the band and their albums received local and international coverage in publications such as Decibel Magazine [4], Necromance Magazine [5], and El Comercio (Peru) [6]
The band has taken part in international venues, opening for acts such as Suffocation [7], Malevolent Creation [8], Vomitory [9], and Venom Inc. [10]. Locally, they have played in many venues, including the 30th edition of the oldest and most reputable Peruvian metal festival: "Ataque Metal" [11].

And also I’m not real big on death metal this clean and polished, but the playing is super tight and the riffs are brutally melodic; a certain Charles Schuldiner would be pretty into this whole oldschool package.

One of the most talented death metal acts nowadays, their music is both technical and extreme.

Aggression is key to this band, as I can tell by the angry sound and intense energy behind it.

With bands such as Anal Vomit and Goat Semen spearheading the extreme metal scene in Peru, Infection forms another good representative for a country that has yet to carve out its place on the international metal map.

Tracks like the brilliantly titled 'Fecal Burrito' and the thunderous title track worship the ground that Corpsegrinder et al walk on, and the short blast of 'Gastric Disorder' and the grindcore-esque 'Malignant Tumor' showcase an ability to mix it up.

One of a handful of great new acts emerging from the South American extreme metal scene, this group definitely has a lot to like and only a few small points against it that hold it back from really reaching the upper echelon which is quite close to their overall status.

Summing up, Infection are delivering a praiseworthy extreme death metal release. Without having created 100% their own identity, they are mainly focusing in technical, old school death metal with influences from Cannibal Corpse, Monstrosity, etc.

Infection have crafted a great Death Metal album here which eschews some of the expected modern stuff in favor of the aggression that most Death Metal fans yearn for.

Originally released in 2014, but repressed late last year, Acrotomophile Mutilator isn’t the expected bestial South American affair, but rather a throwback death metal album in the vein of early Death, Cannibal Corpse and other 90s era death metal and thrash.

The entire album is very good, having its best moments on the following songs: the aggressive and thunderous “When Children Murder”, “First-Degree Murder” (with a very technical guitar work), “Psychopath”, the hard kick in the face called “Wish You Were Dead (Again)”, the insane “Acrotomophile Mutilator”, and the excellent “Devouring the Living”.
