Inni Kaur is an American author, poet, and artist known for her literary contributions, including 8 published books and over 300 poems.[1][2]

Kaur's writing is influenced by her perspective on life and her connection with Sikh philosophy, which emphasizes finding joy in every moment. In addition to her literary pursuits, Kaur enjoys nature walks and abstract painting.

Early Life[edit]

Kaur's journey took her from Kuwait to various countries before settling in the United States in 1982. A significant moment in her life occurred when she learned about events unfolding in India, which deepened her cultural ties and led her to embrace Sikhism.[3]

Despite not having previously identified herself as a Sikh, Inni underwent a gradual process of choosing to embrace the faith.

Career[edit]

Inni Kaur is active in the Sikh community, advocating for awareness on interfaith[4] and women's issues.[5]

She holds positions on various boards and contributes to organizations dedicated to Sikh heritage. Her contributions to Sikh literature and spirituality have reached a global audience through various media platforms.

Within the community, Kaur holds an active membership on the Board of the Interfaith Council of Southern Connecticut[6], an organization dedicated to fostering understanding among different faiths. Additionally, she contributes to the editorial board of Nishaan, a magazine that celebrates Sikh heritage, and is involved as a board member for the Munshi Bishan Singh Kochhar Foundation. In her commitment to public service, she also serves on the Advisory Board of the Sikh Family Center and holds a position as a local Justice of the Peace.

As Creative Director at the Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI)[7], Kaur has played a key role in advancing the organization's mission. Kaur was present throughout the curation of IN5 Experium: The Golden Temple at the Bramalea City Centre in 2019.[8]

In 2024, Kaur was featured as a voice of wisdom in The Kindness Within, a film centered around Leon, a five-time bestselling author and acclaimed host of The Kindness Diaries on Netflix and Discovery+. In this poignant narrative, the film takes viewers to India, where Leon embarks on a soul-stirring journey of self-discovery and healing.[9]
