History[edit]

Instacom was founded by Nellis Basson, with the primary intention of replacing the 2-way radio systems which was Prevalent in South Africa at the time.[2][3] It was officially launched in 2011, headquartered in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Between 2007 and 2011 Basson invested time and money on technology development, experimentation and testing. During this phase the Push to Talk technology proved to be revolutionary and quickly disrupted the Push Communication industry, as many companies began to embrace it as an effective means for workforce communication.

In 2011 Mr. Nellis Basson, in partnership with Johan Briel, Kobus Briel and Roland Van der Walt commercialized the new service under the banner of Instacom Instant Communication Pty Ltd.

Expansion and Growth[edit]

Over the next 8 years, the company focused on getting the product into the Mobile network space. It partnered with Mobile Network Operators particularly CellC, Vodacom Business[4] and MTN to sell the flagship mobile apps, namely; Push to Talk, Push to Alert and Push to Locate. By 2017 the company had expanded to include in its offering rugged hardware devices[5] compatible with its mobile apps.[6] It had also added more Push Communication Apps and Software, including Guard Patrol, PC Control, Mission Critical Dispatcher[7], and Access Control System.

Instacom now maintains a presence in more than six countries through its various branches, agents and clients namely South Africa, Botswana, DRC, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, Canada and USA
