Institute of Life Sciences (Odia: ଜୀବ ବିଜ୍ଞାନ ପ୍ରତିଷ୍ଠାନ, ଭୁବନେଶ୍ଵର)
It has three faculties — Infectious Disease Biology; Gene Function and Regulation; and Translation Research and Technology Development for higher research.[1]
During the COVID-19 outbreak the institiute played a pivotal role in genomic surveillance of the pathogen and sequenced more than 13,000 SARS-CoV-2 genomes starting from April,2023[2]
The institiute is currently led by Debasis Dash and ranked 7th in Nature Index 2023.
