The International Society for Engineering Pedagogy (IGIP-in German: Internationale Gesellschaft für Ingenieurpedagogik) was founded in 1972 in Klagenfurt, Austria and is a non-profit member association.[1] According to its own information, it represents the largest international network of universities involved in the education of engineers. It maintains close cooperation with the organizations American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE)[2] and the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI)[3], founded in 1973.
Organization[edit]
Today, IGIP has members in 72 countries worldwide, with 28 national sections[4]. It has consultative status with UNESCO and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).[5] IGIP has 2021 its 50th anniversary of tradition. They contribute to engineering pedagogy. IGIP's members and activists are contributing to making IGIP a leading global engineering association [6]. They are present worldwide via their membership network of individuals, affiliates and institutions, as well as local branches represented by academics in the field of Engineering Pedagogy. They suggest curricular for engineering educaiton.[7] More than 1,500 professionals all over the globe carry the title of "IGIP International Engineering Educator -Ing.Paed.IGIP" [8][9][10]
