Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Masood Al-Nadvi is a Canadian Muslim scholar and Imam.
Education[edit]
Nadvi studied Islamic sciences at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow, India and also earned a degree from the Islamic University of Madinah. Nadvi holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Shariah, with a specialization in jurisprudence (Fiqh) from Umm al-Qura University, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. He taught Islamic Law and Jurisprudence at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, for six years.[citation needed]
Nadvi earned a degree in political science and economics from Bhopal University, Bhopal, India.[1]
Career[edit]
Nadvi is the president of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) Canada[2] and the former Director of Religious Affairs at the Calgary Islamic Centre and at the Al-Falah Islamic Centre. He is currently on the advisory board of various organizations including the Islamic Credit Union of Canada, the Interest-Free Financing Corporation and the Crescent Committee of Canada, amongst others. He is also the Chairman of the Canadian Council of Imams, the Islamic Finance Advisory Board, the Fiqh Council of Canada and the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of Canada’s religious affairs committee. Dr. Nadvi formerly served as a member of the University of Calgary chaplaincy team. His role at the University of Calgary was to provide spiritual and moral guidance for Muslims on campus as well as to help facilitate cultural understanding.
He currently is an adjunct faculty member at the Canadian Centre for Deen Studies and the Islamic Institute of Toronto (IIT) and is the Executive Director and Scholar in Residence at the Al-Nadwa Institute.[3]
