Isha Ambani is a third generation Indian businesswoman and the director of Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Retail Ventures. She is the daughter of Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited and the grand daughter of Dhirubhai Ambani who was the founder of RIL.[1] Spouse 1 (Cs).

Personal Life[edit]

Ambani was born to Mukesh and Nita Ambani on 23 October 1991 with her twin brother Akash. She also has a younger brother Anant. Despite being born in a rich family Ambani had a normal childhood with travel by public transport and 7 cents pocket money everyday to spend.[2] Being the only girl among her brothers and cousins, she was the favourite child of her grandfather Dhirubhai.[3] Ambani studied psychology and South Asian studies at Yale university. Later she studied at Stanford University for her MBA degree. Ambani had a brief stint at Mckinsey and Co. as a business analyst before joining her father's business along with her brother Akash.[4]In December 2018, Ambani married childhood friend and businessman Anand Piramal after dating for two years.[5]

Career and Business Ventures[edit]

Even before she joined business she was ranked second on the Forbes Youngest Business Heiresses list.[6] After a short stint as business analyst at Mckinsey, Ambani officially joined Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Retail Ventures as director in October 2014. Cited as the brain that gave Mukesh Ambani the concept of Reliance Retail, she oversees Strategy and Marketing at RRVL.[7] In April 2016, Ambani launched the ecommerce venture of Reliance named AJio at the Lakme Fashion Week.[8] In recent times she has been pursuing a strategy and driving acquisitions of leading retail brands and strategic partnerships to strengthen the Reliance Retail portfolio.[7] The strategic aquisitions of Netmeds and Fynd are slated to drive the new beauty retail platform by the name Tiara and would be integrated with AJio.[9] In July 2020, Ambani along with her brother Akash showcased the mixed reality technology product Jio Glass.[10] In September 2021, Ambani joined the board of Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art for a four year term.[11] In April 2022, she announced the launch of handicraft stores by the brand name Swadesh. The venture expects to source prodcuts from artisans from across the country.[12]
