Ismael Gonzalez is an American professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the Welterweight division. He received his nickname due to his other occupation as a member of the LAPD.[1]
Mixed martial arts[edit]
Early career[edit]
Gonzalez made his professional debut in 2006 and won via TKO in the second round but then went 0-4-1 in his next five fights before picking up two consecutive wins.
With a professional record of 4-9-1, Gonzalez faced Bellator and Strikeforce veteran, Waachiim Spiritwolf on February 25, 2010 at KOTC: Arrival. The two fought to a draw. Gonzalez then went 2-2 in his next four fights before being invited to compete on the first season of the MMA reality show, Fight Master: Bellator MMA.[2]
Fight Master[edit]
With a professional record of 6-10-2, Gonzalez was an underdog heading into the show but in the entry round, was able to defeat Marcus Aurelio via TKO in round one.
Coached by Joe Warren, Gonzalez faced Joe Williams in his first fight while in the house. Williams had been defeated in the entry round, before later being brought back by coach Frank Shamrock. Gonzalez lost via submission in the second round and was therefore eliminated.
