Iva Troj (born 1 July 1969) is a Bulgarian-Swedish artist, designer, and art historian. Her works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Saatchi Gallery, Haegeumgang Museum and The Louvre Museum.[1][2][3][4][5]
Life and career
Troj was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Her father was a technician, botanist, and inventor, while her mother was a radiologist with a degree in oncology and nuclear physics.[6][7][8]
Troj began studying art at age 11 and attended a local art college from age 13, where she studied art, design, and art history for five years. From 1991 to 1992, she studied printmaking at the California College of the Arts in Berkeley, USA, and later studied design management in Sweden.[9][10][11]
Between 2001 and 2006, Troj worked as a design manager at IBM Innovation.
In 2013, she earned her second bachelor's degree from Södertörn University in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2014, she completed a master's degree at the University of Borås, Sweden. In 2022, she completed a PhD in Art History, with a dissertation titled The Art of Not Dying From The Truth.[12]
Her career in contemporary art began in 2013, when she received the Towry Best of England Award. She has exhibited her work internationally, including in China, United Kingdom, France, Sweden, South Korea, Australia, and Japan.[13][14][15][16]
In 2021, she created a large-scale painting titled The Halo Infinite Masterpiece, featuring over 130 characters from Halo Infinite. The artwork was exhibited at Gallery 4 in the Saatchi Gallery, London.[17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]
In 2022, her work was exhibited at The Louvre Museum in Paris. She has also exhibited at the MixArt Gallery in Brussels and the Haegeumgang Museum in South Korea.[13]
