Jade Marlin (born January 24, 1984) is an American fashion designer and philanthropist based in Los Angeles, California. He is the founder of the Jade Marlin Collection, a line known for combining contemporary style with a focus on wellness and positive living. His work has extended beyond fashion, leading to the establishment of the Jade Marlin Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on fashion education and community support.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Jade Marlin was born on January 24, 1984, in Los Angeles, California. Growing up, he had a deep passion for baseball, which he pursued throughout his youth. After high school, he played in AAA and independent baseball leagues, where he was known as a powerful hitter with a batting average of .390.[1] However, his career was cut short by a severe foot injury, prompting him to explore new avenues, ultimately leading to his pursuit of fashion.
Marlin attended Liberty University where he furthered his education. Currently, he resides in Beverly Hills, California.[1]
Career[edit]
Marlin launched the Jade Marlin Collection in 2007, initially as a brand focused on men’s and women’s business attire. Over time, the collection expanded to include the Classic Jade, Lady Jade, and Jade Marlin Home Collection lines, which feature a range of products from high-end clothing to home décor.[2]
The Jade Marlin Collection has been featured in major retail stores, including Costco, Walmart, and Tilly's, and has appeared in prominent fashion events like New York Fashion Week and Los Angeles Fashion Week.[3]
In 2019, Marlin published his book Beyond the Threads, co-written with Aysa Melkumova, detailing his journey from sports to fashion and offering insights into the industry.[4]
Philanthropy[edit]
In 2015, Marlin founded the Jade Marlin Foundation, originally named Jade Loves Kids. Based in Pasadena, California, the foundation provides resources and education to aspiring fashion designers, particularly those from low-income backgrounds. It offers mentorship programs, scholarships, and training in fashion, product development, and marketing.[5]
The foundation also runs annual community events, including school supply giveaways, toy drives, and a charity event in September. In 2024, the foundation partnered with professors from Santa Monica College to lead a fashion summit, reflecting Marlin’s commitment to accessible fashion education.[6]
