James Michael Tracy (born May 11, 1959) is an American entrepreneur, speaker, and author. He co-founded Legacy Telecommunications, Inc., a company that works in communications infrastructure. He has served in leadership roles in several industry and non-profit groups.
Early life and education
Tracy was born in Watertown, South Dakota. He is one of eight siblings. He studied Business Administration at the Beacom School of Business, University of South Dakota.[1]
Career
From 1993 to 1999, Tracy worked at Premier Industries, where he was a Director of International Business and Structural Products Division Manager. In 2000, he co-founded Legacy Telecommunications, Inc with his son, he served as Chief Executive Officer through 2024. The company became part of Ontivity, LLC in 2018.[2][3][4]
In 2017, he testified before the United States House Committee on Energy and Commerce about broadband infrastructure.[5]
Tracy worked as Chief Brand Ambassador at Ontivity until 2023. He now gives speeches about workplace culture and generational differences. He also hosts a podcast[6][7] and blog called "The Grampion".[8]

Personal life
Tracy married Sarah Jane Alderink in 1980. They have five children and sixteen grandchildren. He is a type rated jet pilot and flies an Eclipse 500.[29] He is a Christian and attends Calvary Chapel of Star, Idaho.[30]
