JARGALSAIKHAN Dashzeveg, (Mongolian: Дашзэвэгийн Жаргалсайхан: . The stage name is Chinggis Jaga, born 1959) and is a leader of Chinggis Khaan Mongolian soft rock band, composer, poet, singer and a researcher of rock music. He is deemed a mental godfather in Mongolian rock music.[1]
Jargalsaikhan was awarded the Honored Artist of Mongolia in 1998. He is a member of the Mongolian Composers' Association and Union of Mongolian Writers' [2] and a member of the leading council of Traditional Archery of Mongolia. He was reselected as a President of Mongolian Singers' Association in the late decades and he is working as a president there now. He is also the founder of the Mongolian Rock Museum. The museum has over 100 exhibits that use Mongolian rock and pop singers, artists and musicians.
Anyone who would know this well is the 'elder statesman' of rock, Jargalsaikhan. Wearing leather cowboy boots, sequined leather pants, and a leather jacket, and with his black hair streaming down over his shoulders, Jargalsaikhan created an image for himself that was very different.[3][4]
Life and career[edit]
Jargalsaikhan was born in Ulaanbaatar in 1959. His father is Dashzeweg.Ch[5] who is a sculptor, a painter, Honored Artist of Mongolia, a great representative of Mongolia's monumental direction and has built over 20 monuments in Mongolia. Moreover, his mother's name is Badam.G [6], who is an Honored Teacher of Mongolia, has been teaching for over 50 years.
He started working as a singer in Bayan Mongol Assembly, the first rock and pop band in Mongolia in 1979 as well as being a singer and musician in the Soyol Erdene band from 1980. In 1983, he served in the Army of Mongolia. He also worked as a leader, singer, and musician in the military band Och, for 3 years.
He founded his band Chinggis Khaan in 1989.
Jargalsaikhan played The XX century concert with his band in Ulaanbaatar city for 3 days in 1999. “The XX century” closing concert was played successfully with the Chinggis Khaan band in 2002. The Best of Chinggis Khaan concert was played by Chinggis Khaan band in the great hall of UB Palace in Ulaanbaatar city 2007.
He also with Chinggis Khaan band visited many countries and played among the Mongol ethnic groups now living in other foreign countries “Chinggis Khaan- World Tour 2000” performance there such as America, England, German, Czech, Poland, Hungary, Sweden, Ireland, South Korea, North Korea, Russia and the People's Republic of China. 2006, on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of Great Mongolia, [7] the Chinggis Khaan-Asian Tour 2006 concert included the best songs, which were played for Mongolians who live in many countries of Asia such as South Korea, Russian Buryat, China, etc, several times. Generally, he performed his songs with his band in the many places where were [[Beijing, Hohhot, Bugat, Shilin gol, East and West Uzemchin, Saikhantal and Uremch, Bortal, Khobigsair, Rashaant in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, etc.
In 2014, the Chinggis Khaan band's Asia tour concert in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region[8] was successfully organized.
Jargalsaikhan successfully organized its tour concert for Mongolians who lives in European countries through Germany, Austria, Czech, Belgium, Sweden, and Turkey with his band in 2015.[9]
Style and lyrical themes[edit]
He not only wrote over 300 lyrics, set them to music and sang them, but also composed many songs for films, plays of drama, the marsh of military wind-music and music of radio or television. Moreover, he published books of music studies, his memories and songbooks.[10] He made his bold move in 1988 with his song, Chinggis khaan, which for the first time spoke openly about Chinggis khaan, the 13th century military leader and founder of the Mongol Empire. The song and Jaga's courage to sing it fed into a larger movement that would, a few years later, succeed in breaking the Party's monopolistic grip on power.
Chinggis khaan song took 3rd place of Voice of Asia international rock and pop musical competition which was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. And was awarded The Special Staff Prize is named after Band Explosion'91 World Final Yamaha.[11] Jargalsaikhan and his band Chinggis khaan has made their sound an indelible part of the Mongolian rock music world. This has brought him the admiration of different generations. The basics of his style have remained relatively unchanged. His song lyrics are carefully crafted, simple, and yet poetic; and his tunes are catchy and singable-the formula for successful pop songs that are the world over. Many songs created by him have been loved by people as their most favorite songs Champion Title Is Not Awarded Easily(Mongolian: Тамирчны алдар хямдхан олдоогүй), Knock on my door (Mongolian: Аяа, анд минь чи хаалгыг минь тогшооч), Irkutsk spring (Mongolian: Эрхүүгийн хавар), Khani (Mongolian: Хань), Menge toorson amrag (Mongolian: Мэнгэ төөрсөн амраг), Shuvuud nutag butsaagui (Mongolian: Шувууд нутаг буцаагүй), Chinggisiin baatruud, Guren Mongol chini khuleene (Mongolian: Гүрэн Монгол чинь хүлээнэ), Khariin nutag davchdaad baina (Mongolian: Харийн нутаг давчдаад байна), 18 nas mini namaig buu orkhioch (Mongolian: 18 нас минь намайг бүү орхиоч), Birthday song (Mongolian: Төрсөн өдрийн дуу) and his books, CDs or DVDs are considered valuable and unique wealth for Mongolians who settled spreading all over the world.
