Jeffrey N. Price
Jeffrey N. Price or "Jef Price" is an American photographer specializing in documentary photography living in Columbus, Ohio.
Photographically he's known for his work with scotch brand WildScotsman Whisky,[1] Wild Turkey, Land Rover at The Wilds,[2]
In 2009 he launched a blog along with Cullen Marriott called "Necessary Cool". The blog was mentioned in Marvel Comics Tom Brevoort's blog "Blah Blah Blah" [3] for his part in the "Take my trade"[4] event, and shortly after an ad for Necessary Cool surfaced online featuring Tom Brevoort. Interviews done with Marvel artists and writers as well as Tom Brevoort himself followed over the next two years.[5] Price was criticized for using other sites like Comic Vine to crowd source topics for his interviews,[6] he had previously written at least one article featured there.[7]
In 2016 he was featured on Bellamy Hunt's site Japan camera hunter "In My Bag" [8] and took part in the first Half Frame tour held by the popular site Emulsive.[9] In March 2016 journalist Daniel J. Schneider spoke about Price in his article "CLASSIFYING MY COLLECTION: HOW MANY CAMERAS DO I NEED?". Saying conversations with Price and others inspired him to take consider the question, "Are we collectors or photographers?."[10]
Price is known as being a late convert from film to digital, saying in his feature on Japan Camera Hunter's In My Bag: " I was late to the digital party, & didn’t own my first digital DSLR till I was in my 20’s.[8] "
