Julius-Alexander "Jenius" Brown (born July 28, 2001) is a Canadian platinum record producer and songwriter, specializing in hip hop and R&B music. Jenius has worked with several prominent artists in the music industry including, Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Pop Smoke, Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, Jack Harlow, among others.

Career

Jenius, born in Ontario, Canada to Kevin and Treasa Brown, started producing when he was eight years old on his father's desktop, equipped with FL Studio. At age 15, while attending high school at Father Leo J Austin Catholic Secondary School, Jenius received his first placement with Tory Lanez which caught the eye of fellow Canadian producer WondaGurl.[1] At the age of 16 Jenius won the Producergrind beat competition hosted by Zaytoven in Atlanta earning him a trophy and an one on one studio session with DJ Plugg [2]

As Jenius started working closely with WondaGurl, in 2018 he connected with Toronto rapper Killy where Jenius would go on to land his second placement with WondaGurl on his debut project[3] In early 2019 Jenius was nominated for two Juno awards, one for Killy's SURRENDER YOUR SOUL and the other Killy's second project DESTINY [4] After graduating in June 2019, Jenius connected with Jack Harlow in Atlanta, GA where he would land another placement on Harlow's album CONFETTI. During this time, Jenius moved to Los Angeles to further his career and in October 2019, he began to work with the likes of Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Sheck Wes on their debut project JACKBOYS with WondaGurl[5] Additionally, the Jackboys' project ended up debuting #1 on the Billboard 200 and Billboard 100 [6]

In 2020, Jenius's career would propel to new heights landing major placements with Kid Cudi, Jack Harlow, Trippie Redd, [1][7] and land his second Billboard #1 and multi-platinum status with Pop Smoke's POSTHUMOUS [8]
