Jesús R Rodríguez Córdoba (born 15 June 1949) is a Cuban chess player who became an International Master (IM) in 1982.
Biography[edit]
Rodríguez Córdoba was born in Ciego de Ávila on 15 June 1949.[1] In the 1970s to the early 1980s he was one of Cuba's leading chess players. He has participated in the Cuban Chess Championships many times, and in 1969 he played in the Capablanca Memorial.[2]
Rodríguez Córdoba played for Cuba in two Chess Olympiads:[3]
- In 1972, at first board in the 20th Chess Olympiad in Skopje (+1, =10, −3),
- In 1974, at third board in the 21st Chess Olympiad in Nice (+7, =6, −4).
Rodríguez Cordóba played for Cuba in the World Student Team Chess Championships:[4]
- In 1963, at first board in the 10th World Student Team Chess Championship in Budva (+4, =3, −2),
- In 1964, at first board in the 11th World Student Team Chess Championship in Kraków (+2, =4, −0),
- In 1966, at first board in the 13th World Student Team Chess Championship in Örebro (+3, =5, −2).
Playing in the CACAC Team Chess Championships for the Cuban team, he won team gold twice in a row in 1972 and 1973.[5]
In 1982, Rodríguez Córdoba was awarded the FIDE International Master (IM) title.[1]
