Jessica Jimerson (born 1990) in San Diego, California, is the oldest child of three, Angela and Tiffany, born to Annette P. Jimerson.[4] Jimerson is an American digital artist who is noted for her many published books,[5] comic books[6] and video games.[4] Primarily working in 3D modeling and colorist roles,[6] she also does raster as well as vector works, primarily portraits.[7] The first year of Jimerson's college attendance, Westwood College program director John Hebard described her work as "quality and technique, comparable to that of a well-seasoned professional illustrator of national status." —John Hebard.[7][8] Jimerson has worked on both 2D and 3D games in a variety of positions ranging from art lead, to environment artist, texture artist, animation, and level design.[4][7][9] Studio work includes I-Zombie via Random Otaku, Left to Rot via Panzer Gaming Studios,[4] New World via Dark Wing Studios, and several smaller flash games, such as Space Rampage[10][11] and Panco Perry.[9][12]

Biography

Jimerson knew from the young age of twelve that she aspired to be a digital artist, focused toward game art and design.[4] She drew inspiration from her mother Annette P. Jimerson, whose fine art surrounded her growing up, leading to an early appreciation of art.[4] Her early works primarily consisted of character concepts, followed by a love of story writing, occasionally giving the characters backstories. Jimerson attended Westwood College in 2009, for Game Art and Design at the young age of nineteen. During her time in college, she won several awards,[2] and was featured in various art competitions. This included her first-place win in the Cengage Learning, Media Arts & Design: Contest,[3] earning a published critique from renowned authors Annesa Hartman and Christ Botello on her win, saying her self-portrait "crosses over into what we would call art. It's deeply personal, and it moves us to a real emotion. The use of black as negative space to simultaneously convey hair and fragmentation like broken shards of a splintered mirror is transcendent. Bravo!".[13] As well as her second-place win at MAGD EXPO for Best Indie Game Award, for Left to Rot.[1] Working on multiple projects while in college, Jimerson entered into the professional world of both digital art and comic books. She later graduated with honors in 2012, earning her bachelor's degree in Science.[2][14]

She has also since written several books, including the novel Vampire Love ,[15] a poetry book Solstice Moon[16] which primarily regards the cycles of life,[17] and a children's book A Pretty Red Flower with a Single Thorn.[18] In addition, her artistic abilities are also featured in six other books, one being the Agape Coloring Activity Prayers Puzzle, which was written and illustrated by her grandmother Jessie Phillips.[4][19]

However, Jimerson is most noted for being a comic colorist, having worked on more than thirty-two comic books and counting, doing lettering as well. Working on series such as Creepy Scarlett[20] which she also lettered, Sleeprunners, Cradle of Magic ,[21] and the Kickstarter success Eclipse.[9][22] Beginning in 2014, she designed the official poster art for Etheria Film Night.[23]

While most of Jimerson's published comic books are considered indie, she also does studio work for companies such as Scattered Comic Studios,[14] September 17 Productions, and Kymera Press.[24] As well as for her role at Panzer Gaming Studios as Art Lead, on the Left to Rot game, which is also featured in the indie film Starlet.[4]
