John Paulo Bagnas Nase (born September 14, 1994), better known by his stage name Pablo (formerly Sejun), is a Filipino singer, songwriter, and producer. He is the leader of the Filipino boy band SB19 managed under ShowBT Philippines Corp.[1]
Early life[edit]
Pablo was born on September 14, 1994 in Imus, Cavite, Philippines.[2] He is the second-born child along with two sisters and two brothers.[3] In high school, he served as a point guard in their basketball varsity team.[4] He entered college at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and while on his senior year, he worked as a call center representative.[5] After graduating with Bachelor of Arts in English degree, Pablo worked as a data analyst in Makati.[6] He has passion for performing on his early years but was afraid of sharing it to others except to his inner circles.[7] Pablo's main inspiration is G-dragon due to it being an all-rounder as a singer, dancer, rapper, and producer with a high sense in fashion.[8]
Career[edit]
Pre-debut: ShowBT auditions[edit]
In 2016, Pablo auditioned in ShowBT Philippines Corp. after meeting their Korean trainer, singer and musical actress Adie Hong (also known as Teacher Hong or Hongganda) at a Korean musical that she acted in.[9] While being subtle in expressing his skills in performing because he doesn't want to show it to other people, Pablo still pursued his passion in performing.[10] He is the first member of SB19 to audition in the talent agency. After passing the auditions, he started training for two years and became part of NARRA trainee group.[11][12] Due to the pressure in the training program, he need to resign for his work as a data analyst to focus on the training.[13] The trainee group performed on various events in the agency for years.[14]
2018-present: Debut with SB19 and songwriting[edit]
Out of all of the members of SB19, Pablo trained the longest.[15] Implementing the Korean idol training system, ShowBT Philippines Corp. conducted evaluations weekly by removing underperforming trainees,[16] which in the end, Pablo got a slot for the final line-up for SB19 as the band's leader and rapper.[17][18] On October 26, 2018, Pablo debuted with fellow members Josh, Stell, Sejun, and Ken with "Tilaluha" which was written by himself.[19][20] Being a leader, Pablo always focused on the idea of "always choosing to be kind" reminding his fans and members to be humble always.[21] He also served as the main songwriter of the band's songs participating on all of their singles released "Go Up" and "Alab (Burning)".[22][23][24] Pablo was also credited as the lyricist of SB19's debut Get in the Zone released on July 31, 2020 partaking in all of the tracks in the album.[25]
