John Rey Malto (born October 22, 1991), is a Filipino talent manager, writer, and entertainment industry professional. He began his career in freelance writing and talent coordination before becoming involved in the modeling and beauty pageant sector.
Malto has served as a director for an international modeling competition and has been recognized by Top Model Philippines for his contributions to talent development and mentorship of young artists in the Philippine entertainment industry.[1][2]
Early life and education
John Rey Malto was born in Manila, Philippines, and raised in Sudipen, La Union. Malto earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) in 2017. During his studies, he worked in fast food establishments to support himself. He further pursued education-related credits at DMMMSU and completed vocational courses in Photography at Lorma Colleges and Event Management at Our Lady of Guadalupe College.[3][4]
Career
Malto transitioned to managing artists and producing creative projects in film, television, and music.[3][4][5] His work in talent management emphasizes the safety and well-being of his artists, reflecting his commitment to guiding and supporting emerging performers throughout their careers.[3][6][7]
He also worked in television, contributing to programs such as Rated Korina, and was involved in the production of a feature on ABS-CBN talent manager Johnny Manahan.[8]
Malto also worked as casting director for the films Spring in Prague, which premiered in Manila on May 28, 2025,[9] and The Mariana's Web (2024). Malto contributed as assistant event director for the charity concert 'Friends for Love Festival' held at the Music Museum.[10][11]
In July 2025, Malto served as a production partner in Art on the Runway: Born to Shine, an event that brought together young artists and models to showcase their abilities in the arts and fashion industries.[12]
As a songwriter, Malto wrote the 2024 single "Pangako Mo" for singer Joice Espinoza.[13]
