Joker is a fictional character portrayed by Jared Leto and appears in the film Suicide Squad. He is director David Ayer and executive producer Zac Snyder's interpretation of the comic book character created by Jerry Robinson, Bill Finger and Bob Kane in 1940 as the archenemy of the superhero Batman. This is the fourth time the character has been adapted to a live-action film.
Character development[edit]
Academy Award-winning actor and musician Jared Leto was cast to portray the Joker in the 2016 film Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer.[1]
Role in the franchise[edit]
Zack Snyder revealed that the Joker was originally set to debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice alongside the Riddler, but both characters were cut from the film.[2]

On October 22, 2020, it was reported that Leto would reprise his role as the Joker in Zack Snyder's upcoming director's cut of Justice League, coming along during shooting of additional footage.[3]
