Jon Barnes (born Jonathan Michael Barnes, 20 September 1983 in Basingstoke, Hampshire) is a British racing driver.

Early career[edit]

Barnes started racing in karting, where he finished in the top ten in both the Junior and Senior TKM Super One British Kart Racing Championships.

Car racing career[edit]

Caterham amateur racing[edit]

In 2002, Barnes moved into car racing. He began racing in the Caterham Graduates Racing Club, in the Super Graduates Class. Barnes finished as Vice Champion, having been narrowly beaten by Caterham employee and season long rival, Simon Lambert. Barnes won six races and finished on the podium in thirteen of the fourteen races in the championship. In 2003, Barnes raced in the Autosport Caterham Eurocup and the Powertrain Caterham R400 Championship. In 2004, Barnes won the Autosport Caterham Eurocup and was Vice Champion in the Powertrain Caterham R400 Championship. In 2005, Barnes won the Cosworth Caterham Masters Championship.

Professional racing[edit]

In 2006, Barnes won the Formula Palmer Audi Championship and was nominated as a finalist in the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award. In 2007 he competed in two International Formula Master races and finished tenth in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain. In 2008, Barnes won the British GT Championship GT3 class driving a Dodge Viper. He also made three starts in the FIA GT3 European Championship. In 2009 his only professional appearances were two starts in FIA GT3 driving an Aston Martin. They would be his last professional starts as in 2010 he only made three starts in Ginetta G50 Cup Great Britain.
