Joseph H. Lee is the current acting secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of General Services.[1][2][3][4][5][6] He was appointed to the position by Governor Tom Wolf in July 2022. He succeeded Curt Topper who served as Secretary of Pennsylvania Department of General Services from 2015 until he left his post on June 30, 2022.[7] Lee’s appointment by Governor Tom Wolf made him the first person of East Asian descent to ever serve as a Cabinet member in Pennsylvania.

Early life and education[edit]

Lee earned his Bachelor of Arts from the Johns Hopkins University and Master of Public Administration from the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania.[8]

Career[edit]

Lee began his career serving as an intelligence analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency where he also supported the production of the President’s Daily Brief as a member of the President’s Analytic Support Staff.[8] He later joined North Highland as a management consultant.[1] In 2019, Lee served the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, starting as special assistant to the secretary and then as deputy secretary for administration. In 2022, he was appointed to acting secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of General Services to succeed outgoing secretary Curt Topper.[9] [10] [11]
