Background[edit]

Jouni is considered one of the pioneers in the electronic music scene, being a member of bands like Pouppée Fabrikk[1] and Mz.412[2] (previously manifest as Maschinenzimmer 412) - the inventors of "Black Industrial".[3] Jouni has over 100 past releases, cooperations and mastering work/remixing/mixing in the Swedish electro scene.[4]

Early Influence[edit]

In the early seventies Jouni became aware of instrumental music, such as Jean Michel Jarre, Klaus Schulze and Klaus Wunderlich, drawn to this he started writing and creating music on his fathers Yamaha home organ. In the early 80s he began buying records, stumbling over artists like Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and Ultravix which set the main foundation of his style esp inspired by the style of playing by Billy Currie.[5]

Pouppée Fabrikk[edit]

At the age of 15 he bought his first synthesizer, a Roland S-10 sampler and began writing music on a more regular basis. After hearing D.A.F and Front 242 this set the foundation of joining Friends Henrik Björkk and Leif Holm in Pouppée Fabrikk as a producer in 1988 which lead to later becoming a full time member of the band.[6]

Pouppée Fabrikk were featured in the MTV program 120 minutes (1992) with Paul King as a new and upcoming electro band from Sweden.[7]

Maschinenzimmer 412[edit]

In 1988 Jouni Ollila (as moniker Ulvtharm) co-founded the influential black industrial combo Maschinenzimmer 412 together with Nordvargr (later Mz.412). The first album, Malfeitor, was released in 1989 on the Cold Meat Industry label. This first album was limited to seven hundred copies.[8]
