Early life and career[edit]

Judy was born in San Diego, California in a Filipino family to Nini Bihis Gutierrez and Albert Gutierrez.[8] She went to Marysville Pilchuck High School and graduated from the University of Washington. Judy started video blogging in 2008 while studying at the University of Washington.[9] She posted a hair-curling how-to video on YouTube which was received well on the social media network.[10] Encouraged by this Judy started frequently uploading such videos to her channel itsjudytime. In 2011,Judy started her second YouTube channel itsJudysLife, a daily vlog channel where she highlighted the everyday moments of her life.[11] She launched a "makeup palette".[12][13] In August 2014, Driver Digital signed a contract with Judy to represent her for new media and product launches.[14]

Philanthropy[edit]

In 2011 Judy Travis started an event called Dancember with his husband Benji Travis.[15][16] Dancember is an annual fundraiser where they dance for donations in December to raise awareness and funds for causes and/or charities during a 24 Hour Live Broadcast.[17][18] Their first year they raised $5,000 and surpassed their initial goal of 3K raising funds for “homeless youth” in collaboration with Virgin Mobile.[19] Since then the couple has raised over 1 million dollars for charities such as the YMCA, March of Dimes, Rescue Freedom, and Convoy of Hope.[16][20] In addition to the money they have been able to hit milestones for awareness such as trending on twitter and getting over 1.5 million views on their broadcast in a 24 hour period.[15][21] Dancember continues to happen every year and now is supporting Convoy of Hope through their feeding initiative “Feed One”.[16][22]

Every year Judy and her husband Benji host a 24-hour live broadcast in December,[23][24] known as Dancember to raise awareness and funds for different humanitarian causes.[25][26]
