Julie Han (Hangul: 한쥴리; born March 29, 2000), known mononymously as Julie, is an American singer, songwriter, and rapper based in South Korea. She is the leader of the South Korean girl group Kiss of Life, formed in 2023 by S2 Entertainment.[1]

Early life

Julie Han was born on March 29, 2000, in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States.[2][3] She lived there for thirteen years during which she pursued ballet.[4]

Career

2017–2023: Pre-debut

She moved to South Korea at the age of thirteen where she was a student at Def Dance School and Def Music Academy, through which she was selected as a trainee for The Black Label, a sub-unit of YG Entertainment.[5][6]

In December 2022, Julie was seen alongside her future bandmates Natty, Belle, Haneul, and two unknown people in a British documentary about K-pop trainees. It was alleged that they were to be a part of an upcoming girl group of S2 Entertainment.[7] On December 27, 2023, S2 Entertainment announced the launch of a girl group in 2023, following which Julie was revealed as the third member of Kiss of Life on May 17, 2023.[8]

2023–present: Debut with Kiss of Life and solo activities

On July 5, the group officially made their debut with the release of their self-titled EP,[9] which included a solo song "Kitty Cat" sung by Julie.[10][11] They also held a press showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, South Korea on the afternoon of the same day.[12]

As the eldest member, Julie was chosen as the leader of Kiss of Life. Her bandmates have highlighted her essential role, noting her high level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and deep understanding of each member, which helps the group navigate the realities of idol life.[13] In her leadership role, she actively ensures that each member's strengths and creative ideas are represented in the group's music, visuals, and performances, fostering a collaborative environment with their agency.[14]

In 2024, she featured on the track "Magic" in Nayeon's album Na.[15][16] Additionally, in February 2024, Kiss of Life was announced as the new global brand ambassadors for Maybelline New York, marking a significant milestone in the group's commercial activities.[17]
