Junaid Shah (1992 – 16 July 2020)[1] was an Indian model and actor. He was popular as Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor's doppelganger from Kashmir. On 16 July 2020, he died due to cardiac arrest at his home. [3] He had a separate fan base due to his resemblance with the Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor.[4]
About
Shah's popularity had risen from 2014, when he became a social media star and bagged modelling assignments in Mumbai with the help of Ranbir Kapoor. Also, Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor mentioned him on a Twitter post, as a duplicate copy of his son Ranbir Kapoor.[5] He was a management student[6] pursuing an MBA from Kashmir University.[2]
Career
Shah gained fame after his pictures went viral in 2014 after people noticed his striking resemblance to Ranbir Kapoor.[7] He had been featured on many TV channels, including Zee TV, MTV and Zoom TV.[8]
In 2014, Shah became an overnight sensation after Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor shared a photo of Shah on social media.[9]
Shah had completed modelling assignments during his stay in Mumbai.[10] He was successful in making his separate fan base despite having a resemblance with the Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor.[4]
Personal life
Shah was born in 1992 in EllahiBagh, Srinagar.[1] His father, Nissar Ahmed Shah, is a fingerprint expert, and his mother is an accountant.[2] In 2014, he was pursuing an MBA from Kashmir University.[2] Shah's parents didn't like his resemblance to Ranbir Kapoor; they wanted him to have his own identity. They wanted him to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), but he wanted to do modelling.[2]
Death
Shah returned from Mumbai to Srinagar in May or June to take care of his ailing father, Nissar Ahmed Shah. On 17 July 2020, he died due to a massive overnight cardiac arrest.[11]
