Jung Se-woon (Hangul정세운, born May 31, 1997) is a South Korean singer-songwriter signed under Starship Entertainment. Jung Se-woon first rose to fame through his participation on the show K-pop Star 3 in 2013, finishing in the Top 10. During 2017, he participated in the survival show Produce 101 Season 2 and finished as 12th place.

Early life[edit]

Se Woon was born in Masan, South Korea and lived there for three years before moving to Busan.[1] In 2017, he participated in Mnet’s survival boy group program, Produce 101 Season 2, in which he finished in 12th place.

Career[edit]

2013: KPOPSTAR Season 3[edit]

At the age of seventeen, Jung-Se Woon from Busan took part in the K-pop Star 3.[2] In the first stage, he sang his own song "Mum, Please Wait". During K-pop Star 3, he formed a duo, known as Something (썸 띵) with Kim Ah Hyeon. They made it to the TOP10 of the competition.

2017: Produce 101 Season 2[edit]

In 2017, Jung Sewoon participated in the second season of the popular survival show Produce 101. He represented the Starship Entertainment with fellow trainee Lee Gwanghyun.

  • 2017 April 7th (Episode 1), his definition and answer to the question "What does being a trainee meant for you" was the first one being presented. Sewoon and Lee Gwanghyun was the first group of trainees entered the performing arena. At the end of this episode, he was rank 13th.
  • 2017 April 14th (Episode 2), Sewoon performed Maroon 5's "Sugar" alongside with Gwanhyun. The mentor requested him to performed one of his original songs, as they learned that he was part of K-pop Star contestants. He was placed in B rank during his first evaluation. At the end of this episode, he was rank 17th.
  • 2017 April 21st (Episode 3), he stayed in B rank after his second evaluation. At the end of this episode, he was rank 11.
  • 2017 April 28th (Episode 4), Sewoon performed INFINITE's "Be Mine" as part of the Group 2 trainees. Sewoon earned 46 individual live votes and the additional 3,000 votes for being part of the winning team.
  • 2017 May 5th (Episode 5), with his individual live votes, additional 3,000 votes, and the national producer's votes, he earned a total of 634,134 votes and was rank 13.
  • 2017 May 12th (Episode 6) he was rank 13 during the mid-episode rank eveal. In the position evaluation mission, his song pick was BLACK PINK's "Playing With Fire". He was the leader of the group. Sewoon was first place among the group and was given the benefit of additional 10,000 votes.
  • 2017 May 19th (Episode 7), the number of votes for the Vocal position was revealed. He earned a total of 584 votes and with the additional 10,000 votes, he was rank 5 out of the Vocal Position.
  • 2017 May 26th (Episode 8), Sewoon was chosen by the national producers to be part of the "Oh Little Girl" team. The song"Oh Little Girl" was created by Kiggen and ASSBRASS and is in the genre of Hip Hop. During the second rank reveal, he was rank 17th.
  • 2017 June 2nd (Episode 8), Sewoon was the main vocal of the "Oh Little Girl" team. He won 36 individual live voting and his group has a total of 398 votes. He was rank 19 in this concept mission.
  • 2017 June 9th (Episode 10), he was rank 3rd in the "One Pick" among all trainees. During the third rankings, he was rank 19 with 196,223 votes. In the same episode, Sewoon chose the song "Hands On Me", produced by Harvey Mason Jr. as his debut concept mission song. He was chosen and placed as Sub Vocal No.5.
  • 2017 June 16 (Episode 11), he performed "Hands On Me" and "Always" in the live stage/episode. And he was rank 12 in the final rank, just a rank from debuting in the group WANNA ONE.
