Story context can be enriched through annotation, attachments of documents and URLs. Members can exchange audio elements known as voice notes with their followers. Subject to permission, followers can use these voice notes in the stories they create. Stories appear on the library of Justori filtered by preferred languages, genre and following. Stories may be auto-streamed to listen to at specific times. Stories may also be heard from the website by members and non-members alike but no active engagement is allowed.

Thoughts behind Justori[edit]
To sanitise oral memories from adulteration of storytelling using moving images and democratise storytelling, Justori is designed as an audio platform for storytellers and listeners. Since humans started interacting with each other, storytelling has distinguished the human race from the rest of the animal kingdom. Storytelling has entertained as well as informed us even before the first organised human civilization dawned. While the relevance and impact of storytelling in every walks of life has remained just the same, the medium has evolved. From sitting around a fire to tell stories about the hunt of the day to visual storytelling that we see in cave paintings from thirty-five thousand years ago to embedded journalists giving live feeds of urban warfare from places thousands of miles away to live Facebook and YouTube videos by just anybody instantaneously appearing on our smartphones are all manifestations of and our fascinations about storytelling.
Considering the old adage “seeing is believing,” it may not be difficult to postulate the impact of all-pervasive moving images to our lives as it takes full control of storytelling. Are we seeing too much and believing too fast? The real-life-like visual images coupled with sound effects increasingly leave little room for creative thinking, let alone imagination. Furthermore, the narratives are becoming polarized between “real” and “fake.” Ironically, since heydays of civilization, despite all the technological advancements, not much has changed in giving real voice individually to the teeming millions, or collectively to communities of lesser prominence or dominance. As the digital divide shows the ever-widening gap between global North and South, globalisation has put age-old informal knowledge at great risk of being inundated by the mainstream. Justori attempts to bridge this cultural, social, economic, and intellectual gap.
Justori is neither a panacea for different societal ills nor it is a substitute of storytelling as a performing art or the need to develop reading habit. Features of Justori helps in instilling habit of listening and being imaginative. For storytellers, it is simply a platform that complements storytelling by opening up further creative opportunities to entertain and inform.

Listening to Stories on Justori[edit]
Stories appear in the members' library as per their own preferences and in their preferred order. The preferences are made by selecting languages, genre, following and the time of listening. Members may sort the order of stories by date of publication, duration, popularity (listening, rating, sharing), engagement (comments) and controversy (moderation). Stories can be also searched by key words.
Languages[edit]
There are 214 language icons to choose from the Language Filter. The top 20 most popular languages are first placed followed by the remaining in alphabetic order. The languages are denoted by the respective international two-letter code. For example for English, EN or Bengali BN. In some cases, if the code doesn’t exist, Justori has taken the liberty to generate one. For example Mauritian Creole, is QM or Songhay is SY. Each code is depicted inside a coloured circle denoting the language family it belongs to. Thus Romance languages such as French, Spanish or Romanian will be differently colour coded from West Germanic languages such as German, Dutch or Yiddish which again will be differently colour coded from North Germanic languages such as Swedish, Danish or Icelandic. Users may choose up to a maximum of five languages. By selecting a specific language from the Selection Bar itself, all stories only in that language will be displayed for pre-selected genre and following. While creating a story, the language the story is told must be specified. Users must also specify the geographical context or the accent by choosing the most relevant country. The rare language category (ZZ) can be used for stories told in languages spoken by very few people and the specific language could be noted as a tag word. A few old languages are provided for among the language category such as Avestan (AE), Slavonic (CU), Latin (LA), Pali (PI) and Sanskrit (SA)
Genres[edit]
Stories may be classified under one of the 30 Genres. Each genre is identified by its icon. While listeners may choose up to a maximum of five genre as filters, they may select to have stories from All genre as well. As the podcaster decides on the Genre of the story, it may be classified under a different genre than what listener may expect. For example, a story that a listener may consider to be a Drama, the podcaster may have classified it to be as Migrant or Romance. However, if a classification is deemed to be wrongly made, listeners may engage either directly with the podcaster using the Comment tool or even take it up offline using the report tool.
Following[edit]
Users may follow each other to receive notifications, exchange voice notes and collaborate in creating stories. To receive exclusively stories from podcasters whom the members are following, members may select a maximum of five or all podcasters they are following. While using the filter for following, it must be noted that stories from other non-followed members will not appear in the library.
Autostream[edit]
Listeners can pre-select up to three times a day to automatically be alerted to listen to stories. At the set time, as per listener preferences stories from the Play Later or Downloaded for offline listening list will be readied for listening. Listeners may also choose to listen to stories continuously or one at a time.
Podcasting from Justori[edit]
Studio[edit]
By using the Studio function, New stories can be created or new sections can be added to a Draft or even a Published story.
- Name the Story
Type in story title and select the basic details of the story (author, language, genre and accent/locale).
- Record directly or Import Pre-Recorded audio
Use the in-built recorder to record or import pre-recorded story to tell stories by section or at once. When the processing of the recording or uploading is completed the section has to be transferred to Draft. Further sections can be added in similar fashion at anytime. Thus a story is made of a single or multiple recorded or pre-recorded sections.
- Publish Story
The content of a story may be variously enriched by providing a summary and other qualifying information, attaching hyperlinks and PDF, tagging by keywords (highly recommended), choosing cover image. At any stage both the voice and the detail of the story can be editted. Story sections can be added, deleted, replaced, re-recorded and rearranged. A story can be exported for external processing and imported back. One must re-publish any changes made to the story.
Voice Note[edit]
The Voice Note (aka VNote) function works very much like the Studio except it requires no details to complete. Thus using VNotes members can communicate with their followers - individually or as a Circle. Voice notes can be replied by the recipients. The podcaster may also permit the followers to save and use VNotes as story sections. This creates opportunities for collaborations among members of Justori. Saved Voice Notes can be imported while creating or adding a story section. The Voice Notes are managed in the Lounge under My Voice Note.

Languages and Genres Tables[edit]
Language[edit]
On Justori stories can be told in any language and channeled to library by the language preferences of listeners. While there is no technical challenge in leaving the choice of language completely open to the narrator, it was felt to confine it initially to 215 more popularly spoken languages together with some classical and indigenous languages. The languages are colour coded into by broad language families with some liberties taken to group various special languages under a few categories such as Classical (ancient languages not popularly spoken), Creole (mixed and derived languages), Isolated (unique languages spoken by large number of people) and Indigenous (languages spoken in isolated smaller communities). An open category for unclassified languages are left for languages which are not available. More languages may be included upon request.
