Jordin Maikel Post (born 4 October 1994), better known by his stage name Juventa, is a Dutch DJ and trance producer based in Amsterdam. He is best known for his tracks "Move Into Light" featuring Erica Curran, "The Strip", "Xperience" with Speed Limits and his remix of Tritonal’s "Now or Never". Since debuting in 2010, Juventa released songs on record labels like Armada Music, Anjunabeats and Enhanced Music. He has made official remixes for artists like Audien, Ferry Corsten and Dash Berlin. Starting in 2016, Post has been producing music with Luke Shipstad (AKA Suspect 44) under the alias KUURO on the music label Monstercat, which was officially revealed on May 19, 2017 by Billboard.[1]
Early life[edit]
Juventa was born in Groningen in The Netherlands but moved to Bovenkarspel in 1999 where he spent most of his life. His father introduced him to electronic music and after watching Tiësto perform in front of thousands of people for his Tiësto In Concert 2003 DVD, he decided to aim for a career in music.
Career[edit]
2010[edit]
Juventa's production career began in 2010. His first original single was released when he was at the age of 15; a song called "Dreamers Diary" via Dutch label Crystal Clouds Recordings, which was followed up by his notable remix of André Glensk’s "Polish Pierogi" through Infrasonic Future and his "Larry Mountains 54" remix that was compiled on Anjunabeats Volume 8. Juventa continued to work with Infrasonic in the following months, releasing "Sapphire" and his collaboration with Pulstate on "Somnia".
He began his working relationship with UK-based label Enhanced Music by releasing his debut EP "For That Special Girl / Just An Emotion". A second EP on Enhanced titled "Beauty Catch / Summernight Symphony" was released shortly after.
2011-12[edit]
In 2011, Juventa continued to develop his discography with Enhanced, releasing songs like "Gone With The Wind" and "As You Are", and an EP titled "A Thousand Words / Bente".
In 2012, he released the singles "Metamorphose", "Roadtest" and "405". His notable single "Nothing But Less Than Three" was placed on "Enhanced Sessions Best of 2012" mix.
2013[edit]
In August 2013, Juventa released "Move Into Light" featuring Irish vocalist Erica Curran on Enhanced Music. The single became his most successful as of 2013 and it peaked at 2nd on the Beatport overall chart. It also garnered radio play on BBC Radio 1 and Sirius XM’s BPM. Its coinciding music video received hundreds of thousands of views in several days since it was published. In December, Juventa was chosen to do a guest mix on Above & Beyond's "Group Therapy #57".[2]
Juventa released two more singles via Enhanced titled "The Strip" and "Bitsmash". The former also became one of Juventa’s few songs to receive radio play on Radio 1 and BPM, the others being his 2014 remix with Estiva on Tritonal’s "Now or Never" and his collaboration with Speed Limits on "Xperience". In 2014, he released his remix of The Chain Gang of 1974’s "Sleepwalking" which was featured as the theme song for the Grand Theft Auto V video game.
2015-16[edit]
When we started working on KUURO, we wanted to make sure we had our own distinguished sound. We spent about a year working on it before we even released any music. We wanted to truly refine the project.
At some point during 2015, Jordin Post and Luke Shipstad (also known as Suspect 44) formed the duo KUUROデフ. On February 12, 2016, the duo debuted with their remix of "Louder Harder Better" by Galantis[4] on the latter's Louder Harder Better Remixes EP. On July 22, the duo released their second remix, of DJ Snake's single "Propaganda."[5] The duo released their third remix on August 17, of Dillon Francis & NGHTMRE's single "Need You," on Mad Decent's EP Need You (Remixes)[6][7].
Post and Shipstad released KUURO's debut track on Monstercat, "Aamon," on October 7, 2016[8][9][10]. The track premiered on OWSLA's imprint, NEST HQ[11], and was featured on Monstercat's compilation album 029 – Havoc[12]. On December 15, KUURO released their second single, "Fade To Black"[13], on the label Bassrush[14].
2017[edit]
On January 20, 2017, Post and Shipstad released their second single on Monstercat, "Savage"[15][16]. The track was featured on Monstercat's compilation album 030 – Finale[17]. The duo's third Monstercat single, "Bandit," was released on March 16[18][19] and was featured on the compilation Monstercat Uncaged: Volume 1[20].
The duo released their fourth Monstercat single, "Possession," on May 19, 2017[21]. With the premiere of this track on Billboard, Post and Shipstad officially revealed themselves as the producers behind KUURO[22]. The unmasking and single release were also covered by EDM news website YourEDM[23], which has previously written articles on some of KUURO's releases[24][25].
