Kō Shrine (興神社ja:興神社) is a Sōja shrine in Sanuki City, Nagasaki Prefecture. It enshrines all the kami of the shrines in Iki Province. It is located next to Harunotsuji Site.[1]
Ichinomiya and Soja are not the same thing but were sometimes combined[2]
Kou Shrine is near the Harunotsuji Ruins. These ruins were once the royal capital of Ikikoku. The shrine is known as Ichinomiya. It is considered the main shrine of Iki Kuni.[1]
Deities[edit]
The shrine honors several gods. These include Tarashi Nakatsuhiko no Mikoto and Okinaga Tarashi Hime no Mikoto. Nintoku Tenno and Ameno Tajikarawo no Mikoto are also worshipped here. Yaomoikane no Kami and Sumiyoshi no Okami are other deities.[1]
It also has a shrine to all the deities of Iki Province.[2]

The shrine is known for safe childbirth and childcare.[1]
History[edit]
The shrine was established in the year 811. It is linked to governmental seals. It might be the first shrine in Sanuki Country.[1]
Kou Shrine appears in "Nihon Montokutenno Jitsuroku." It is also in "Dainihonkoku Ichinomiya ki.".[1]
