K1 Speed is the premier go-karting company in America. With kart racing centers nationwide, K1 Speed brings the thrill and excitement of indoor karting to a large audience. Offering highly advanced and environmentally-friendly electric go karts as well as large indoor entertainment venues that feature authentic racing memorabilia, pit cafes, meeting rooms and pool tables, K1 Speed is a great place to visit with family and friends or to host a corporate event or party.
K1 Speed was co-founded in 2003 by David Danglard and Susan Danglard. K1 Speed features European-built electric go karts capable of 45 mph (72 km/h), asphalt tracks, and computerized scoring. Ranging from 70,000 to 100,000 sq ft (6,500 to 9,300 m2) in size, K1 Speed is one of the largest chain of indoor go karting centers in the United States.[1][2]
Indoor karting has grown into a large industry over the last several years, not only within California, but across the nation, and K1 Speed prides it selves on playing a part. K1 Speed was one of the first companies to bring electric karts and indoor go kart tracks to Southern California, and since the first location opened in Carlsbad in 2003, they have witnessed an explosion in the market. K1 Speed sees the expansion of the industry as a validation of the sport, which as fans and participants is something that they appreciate. K1 Speed is dedicated to the sport of karting, which is why they operate kart racing centers nationwide; as enthusiasts of the sport, they aim is to make it as accessible as possible!
The premise behind the creation of K1 Speed was to offer enthusiasts and amateurs alike an authentic and genuine racing experience in a safe, comfortable, accessible and perhaps most importantly, unique environment. Utilizing advanced European electric karts and indoor asphalt tracks, K1 Speed quickly developed a reputation as being fun and exciting, and the growth has been continuous since first opened their doors. In addition to the Arrive and Drive racing option, which allows individuals to visit the indoor karting centers anytime and experience the thrill of racing, they also offer racing leagues and a variety of packages for corporate events and group parties, which have proven quite popular. To meet the needs of customers and kart racing enthusiasts who demand more, they also have a Pro Shop – K1 Race Gear – which carries everything that a karter might need to compete at the track. At K1 Speed, our goal is to be synonymous with karting, and we think that we are on our way!
Arrive and Drive[edit]
K1 Speed's nationwide indoor go kart racing locations are open to the general public 7 days a week when not reserved for a private event. Whether you want to race against the clock or race against a friend, Arrive and Drive allows individuals to come in and shoot for the best fast lap against friends, family and other racers. With each race, you’ll receive a Race Result Sheet based on our K1RS system that allows you to compare your times and rank against other drivers, and you can even check your results online to see how you fare against the best of the week or month. Each Arrive and Drive session lasts for about ten minutes and may include one to 12 drivers, depending on the location and track size. First time drivers will receive a mandatory briefing session on rules and safety.
Junior Karting[edit]
At K1 Speed, the Arrive and Drive Junior Karting program allows children to experience the thrill of high-performance electric go karts in a safe and controlled environment. With seat belts, roll bars and automatic shutoff in the event of an emergency, our junior electric karts are a safe way for children to go racing! Junior Karting is a more accessible alternative to the Junior Kart League – which is intended for children who are interested in becoming more involved with racing – and is great for kids who are ready to step up from the anemic karts at the local mini golf course! Kids race against the clock, and each other, for 12 exciting laps and receive detailed print-outs of their lap times, position, and ranking information after the race. The data from the race is also recorded and stored electronically so that children can keep track of their improvement on subsequent visits. The scores can even be viewed online, as we strive to provide young racers with everything that they need to develop their skills.
Indoor Tracks[edit]
K1 Speed currently offers 34 locations spread nationwide, and constantly looking to expand the reach of indoor karting centers to meet the needs of our devoted clientele. If you are looking for a go kart track the odds are good that one of our indoor go kart tracks is nearby! If you’ve never experienced the thrill and excitement of indoor go kart racing, then you owe it to yourself to visit your nearest K1 Speed.
