Koen van Ravensberg (born 14 January 2000), professionally known as KVR, is a Dutch DJ and record producer best known for his 2016 remix of “Thinking About It” by Israeli singer Nathan Goshen.
Early life
Koen was born in Leiden, the Netherlands in 2000. His interest in music appeared at an early age, starting with learning the piano at age six. Though he expressed his first interest in becoming a DJ in the summer of 2015, after he suffered a knee injury. This gave him more time for music. Soundcloud became his new inspiration source. He then did havo at Bonaventura College in Leiden. His rise came about when he encountered Nathan Goshen's song 'Thinking about it' on Soundcloud and made a remix of it. Then the Scandinavian label disco:wax found the track and released it together with him and Nathan. Because of his age, his parents had to give permission before the young DJ could get to work with his label. In the meantime, he still had to go to school.
The track became a hit on Spotify and earned him a record contract. He was awarded a gold record for his remix. After his success KVR decided that he wanted to stop havo and do an MBO education in music production.
Career
The Dutch dance talent signed his first recording agreement at the Danish label disco:wax after being discovered on SoundCloud. He signed the contract when he was only 15 years old[1], within the first year of ever writing or producing any music.
Under the moniker KVR he first surfaced in the international music scene with his remix of Israeli singer Nathan Goshen's "Thinking About It", which reached more than 35 million streams in only the first few weeks. The song appeared in numerous Spotify viral charts[2][3] and remained in the top 15 of Spotify's Chill Hits playlist for well over a year.
One year after his debut release KVR made an official remix of Lady Gaga’s song “Million Reasons”. He also remixed “Bae” for the very talented twin brothers Marcus & Martinus from Norway. Furthermore, he released his first single featuring Denmark vocalist Kaíva from electro trio Noréll.
In 2018 KVR made an official remix of George Ezra’s single “Shotgun” that appeared in several game changing playlists on the streaming service Spotify. In early 2019 he made several radio edits of songs from British Superstar Mark Ronson’s album, including “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” with Miley Cyrus.
Two years after his debut release KVR has made official remixes for Hardwell, Austin Mahone and more[4].
