Kaiden Carlton Anthony Wilson (born 2 September 2005) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for EFL League Two club Rochdale, on loan from Premier League side Chelsea.[5]

Club career

Youth career

Born in Bristol,[2] Wilson began playing for Bristol Football Advanced Development Centre at U9 level,[4][6] he then signed for Chelsea in March 2020 after impressing at a grassroots tournament in his native Bristol.[7] Wilson then penned his first professional contract on 1 October 2022.[8] On 20 May 2024, he signed a new deal at Chelsea which runs until the summer of 2026; with the club holding the option for a further year. This came after he established himself as a regular in the Under-18s as they clinched the Under-18 Premier League South title, Wilson also made the step up to the Under-21s during the 2023/24 season.[9][10] On 24 September 2024, Wilson got his first outing against senior opposition in Bromley in the EFL Trophy - going onto play the full 90 minutes of the cup tie as Chelsea U21 ran out 3–2 winners at the Copperjax Community Stadium.[11]

Chelsea

A few months after signing his new deal, Wilson featured on the bench for the first team during a Conference League game away against Astana in December 2024; however he remained an unused substitute for the Group stage match.[12][13] He wouldn't appear on the first bench again; instead Wilson became a reliable performer for the U21, which saw him rewarded with a new three-and-a-half-year on 23 January 2026 - which ties him down at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2030.[14][15]

Rochdale (loan)

On 17 July 2026 ,Wilson signed for newly promoted EFL League Two club Rochdale on a season–long loan to gain his first taste of senior football.[16][17] On 8 August 2026, Wilson made his senior debut in professional football during Rochdale's EFL Cup First Round defeat against Bradford City, as he came on as a 63rd minute substitute for Sam Sherring as The Dale fell to a 2–0 defeat against The Bantams at Mbanq Valley Parade.[18][19] On 15 August 2026, he made his debut in the EFL, coming on as a 70th minute substitute for Emmanuel Dieseruvwe, in a 3–0 defeat against Newport County at Rodney Parade on the opening day.[20][21]
