Kandiid is a social marketplace app for iOS and Android.[1] The marketplace feature on Kandiid permits users the ability to post deeplinked content for users to monetize from the platform.[2] Registered users on the platform can link cryptocurrencies and NFT products, as well as digital art to folders.[3]

    History[edit]

Founder Antoine McLaughlin created Kandiid in 2018 as a social networking marketplace app in which creatives could monetize their artwork.[4] In the initial Kandiid prototype, Antoine and college friend Tyler Roper designed the initial features and functionality for the app.[5] Kandiid operates on a freemium model, whereby the core services can be used without payment. The Kandiid app initial release to the public was October 2021.[6] Hip-hop artist Soulja Boy joined Kandiid as an equity holder.[7][8] In October 2021, Soulja Boy announced Kandiid nationally on the syndicated radio show - The Breakfast Club via his official Instagram account.[9] The app gained popularity as a result, and the Kandiid platform grew to over 15,000 unique users in less than 24 hours of Soulja Boy post.[10]

In 2018, co-founders Michael Jackson and Justin Bethel, joined Antoine as Kandiid's first active board members and investors. In 2019 Air Force veteran Leighton Lawrence joined the executive board, thus incorporating Kandiid in April 2020.[11] The executive team expanded in 2020 to included recording industry executives Benny Pough of Dverse Media Group and Lewis Tucker, formerly of Uptown Records and Bad Boy Records.[12][13] NFL players Terrence Fede & Kyle Phillips joined Kandiid as influencers for the Kandiid app in 2021.[14] Key influencers in entertainment; D Teck, Keith “Youngin" George II, DjeFeezy, Frederick Wingate, Lamont "Renzo" Bracy and nft influencer Stackpack joined Kandiid as both advisors and infrastructure heads.[15] [16] In 2022, Kandiid placed second for Best Mobile Apps and Sites-Cultural at the 2022 W3 Awards presented by the Academy of Interactive & Digital Arts.[17]

    Features[edit]

    Albums[edit]

The main functionality on the Kandiid platform is the ability to create Kandiid albums. Albums can be up to 50 pieces of content in one post. Max 40 photos and 10 one-minute videos can go inside one album.[18] Users can have an unlimited amount of albums. Users have the ability to post albums free or charge users to view. Albums can be labeled mature for any content that is NSFW. In addition, users can link urls inside of albums to promote external products and solutions.

    Klub[edit]

The Klub feature on Kandiid highlights user albums on the Klub feed for viewing. The Klub is where NFT creators have VIP access to directly promote created art to users on the app in one set location. The Klub adds categories based on upcoming events and partnerships.[19]

    Explore[edit]

The homepage of Kandiid provides access to creators featured posts, which are placed in order by time created. By accessing the magnifying glass icon, users are redirected to the explore page.[19] On the explore page, users can search for connections, view paid, verified, or top free content.[18]
