Karitas Karisimbi
Karitas Karisimbi (born: 26 May 1984) is a Ugandan Radio and TV Personality, business woman, mother of Twins, producer and Director. She has been in the Ugandan's media industry for over 20 years. Karitas is currently working with the Next Media Services a company that owns NxtRadio and NBS Television.[1][2]
Background and education[edit]
Karitas Karisimbi was born on 26 May 1984 in Mulago Hospital to Rwandese parents but she grew up in the ghetto of Kamwokya, Kampala with her other eight siblings with her single mother.[3] Though, her family lost their firstborn who died in a liberation war that brought the NRM government into power in Uganda. Due to the financial strains in her family, her mum used to bake chapatti which they would sell to various places as a way of earning income.[4]
Karisimbi studied and finished her elementary level in Nairobi Kenya. She later returned to Uganda and joined East of high Kololo and Namugongo in Kampala. She also studied from City high, Royal College and Hillside international. She did a Journalism course in Nairobi and an Information Technology course in the United Kingdom.[5]

After completing her Uganda Certificate of Education, Karitas worked at Hotel international Munyonyo as a waitress from where, she met Elvis Sekyanzi of club Silk, a budding entertainment entrepreneur whose father Gordon Wavamunno owned WBS TV. He connected karitas to WBS TV to do a screen test but that came when Tilly Muwonge who was the current host was leaving the TV station, which came out successful for her and she got the job to do the time magazine show.[3][5]
Karitas used to co-host "Big Breakfast show " back in the 2000s with Lillian Mbabazi on Sanyu FM. She joined capital FM and she was among the crew that hosted the breakfast show together with Gaetano and Olanyah from 2003 to 2006.[4] Karitas once worked at WBS TV hosting the show that was dubbed "Time Magazine" on which she quit to devote her time to looking after her two young boys.[6][7][8] She also worked with East African TV until she quit the media to in 2006, to concentrate on her production, K-files and her hair products business.[5] After quitting the mainstream media, Karisimbi started her own production company called K-files, produced a reality TV show of Bobi wine and his family which could air on Bukedde TV in 2010.[4][9]
Karitas Karisimbi co-Hosted the Airtel Reality TV Show which was titled "Together We Can" with J Kazoora, a show that Aimed At Changing Lives. The show explored a range of issues that are currently faced by all Ugandans including; poverty, health, education and selfless service. And for Each story that was showcased on the series, it would end with the ultimate celebration of those Ugandan heroes when Airtel rewarded them with prizes to enable them fulfill their dreams of helping others. The show aired on aired on NTV Uganda, NBS TV and Bukedde TV.[10][11]
She co-hosts with Ronnie Mcvex The Transit show that airs on every single day from 3pm to 7pm on 106.1 FM NxtRadio Uganda(Uganda’s first audio-visual radio station) which is also on StarTimes Channel 243.[1] She has NBS Chartroom Uganda show on NBS Television on which she has interviewed many people including Jackie Chandiru, Lillian Mbabazi, Doreen Komuhangi among others.[12] The show is largely an informative, entertaining and non-political women show that includes hearing about experiences from fellow women specially targeting women and girls that have just completed their University education.[8]
