Kash Shaikh (born October 14, 1979) is an American entrepreneur who founded experiential learning company Besomebody.[1] Shaikh was also one of the founders of Delta Epsilon Psi, a college fraternity.
Background[edit]
Shaikh was born in Houston, Texas in 1979.[citation needed] He attended Klein High School[citation needed] and later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a founding father of Delta Epsilon Psi, one of the first South Asian service fraternities.[2][3]
Career[edit]
Shaikh worked public relations as external relations manager at Procter & Gamble (P&G).[4] At Procter & Gamble Shaikh oversaw efforts by the company to rebrand Tide laundry detergent as a fashion product.[5]
Around 2009 he was assigned by P&G to social marketing for developing countries, for which he traveled extensively. During this time he started a blog about his experiences named "Be Somebody", accompanied by the hashtag #besomebody. In 2012, he left P&G to work social marketing for the camera company GoPro. In early 2013, he left GoPro to develop Besomebody into an app, which was released near the end of 2014. Shaikh was a contestant on season 8 of the reality-tv show Shark Tank in 2016, where he pitched the Besomebody concept.[6][7][8]
On January 10 2017 it was reported that the Besomebody app has shut down.[9]
