Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Katie Owen is a British DJ, born in Wales to father Jonny Owen, an actor and producer. Owen grew up with music as an integral part of her life and cites her father as being the inspiration behind her career. She currently DJs at festivals and nightclubs, and has been hailed a 'rising star'.[1]
Career[edit]
In 2016, Owen DJ'd a gig for This Feeling, an indie rock promoter, in Cardiff. This was her first time DJing, and it was thanks to her father's experience in that she was offered the job.[1] Between 2016 and 2018 she worked for This Feeling, as a promoter and DJ.
In 2018 she DJ'ed at Huw Stephen's showcase gigs in London, at The Social, and also at the 100 club for Fred Perry. She has also DJed for other brands, such as Doctor Martens and at the Hard Rock Cafe.[2] She has had her own weekend show on London's Boogaloo Radio from 2016 to 2017,[1] and has worked at festivals such as Isle of Wight and Y Not.[2]
Owen has opened for Reverend and the Makers, after tweeting them that she would DJ for their UK tour. She played at venues such as Electric Ballroom in London, and the Manchester Academy.[1] She also played at Jo Whileys 90s Anthems in 2019.[3]
Owen began modelling in 2019, and was the face of scotts Menswear.[2] In the same year she was chosen to present Jack Saunders' BBC Radio One Indie Show over Christmas.[4]
As of 2019, Owen works as a freelance DJ, but still gigs at festivals and nightclubs.
Personal life[edit]
Owen is a fan of the skinhead culture, remarking in an interview for Fred Perry that "My Step Mum is Vicky McClure... how could I not be?"[5]
