Kendriya Vidyalaya is an arrangement of primary and secondary education in India, which is mainly designed for the children of the employees of the Central Government of India. It started in 1963 and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education of India since then. It was recommended by the Pay Commission that the government should make a plan so that the education of the children of transferable central government employees is not interrupted. As a result, the Central School Organization was started as a unit of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Initially, during the academic year 1963-64, 20 Regimental Schools running at places with concentration of security personnel were taken over as Kendriya Vidyalayas.
