The Kharkov People's Republic (KPR , Russian: Харьковская Народная Республика) was a short-lived,unrecognized republic proclaimed on 7 April in the Kharkov Oblast of Ukraine by pro-Russian protesters occupying the RSA building.[3] However, later that day, Ukrainian special forces retook the building, thereby ending the control the protesters had had over the building.[3] On 21 April, during a rally, demonstrators elected a "people's governor", though it is unknown if this is connected to the former Republic.[4]
