Kim Woong-ki (Korean: 김웅기; born 1951) is a South Korean entrepreneur and the founder of Global Sae-A Group, an apparel manufacturing and export company. Since founding Sae-A Trading in 1986, he has overseen the group's expansion into a multinational conglomerate with production bases in over 10 countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia, and Haiti.
Education
Kim graduated from Chonnam National University in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering. He was later recognized by the university for his contributions to industrial development through his career in the textile and fashion sectors.[2]
Career
In 1986, Kim established Sae-A Trading with two employees, focusing on overseas export markets. During the 2000s and 2010s, he implemented a vertical integration strategy by establishing spinning mills in Costa Rica and Indonesia.
The company rebranded as Global Sae-A and diversified its business portfolio through acquisitions, including Taein Paper and Ssangyong E&C in 2022.[3] Under Kim's leadership, the group has expanded into construction and food sectors, targeting an annual revenue of KRW 10 trillion.[1]
Art Patronage
Kim is a known art collector and was listed in the ARTnews Top 200 Collectors.[4] He founded the S2A Gallery in Seoul to support the arts and cultural exchange.
