Kiranraj K (born 25 August 1989) is an Indian short film, documentary film maker and film Actor who works in Kannada cinema. He is one of the writers of The Seven Odds, a team of writers for the film Kirik Party.
Early life
Kiranraj K was born in a small village called Kumbadaje, in the Kasaragod district, Kerala. He was the first child of Achutha K., a farmer, and Godavariamma. He did his schooling from ALPS Marikkana Pavoor, J.A.S.B.S. School Manya, Sri Annapoorneshwari High School Agalpady and higher secondary from Matha Education Mangalore. He did his specialization in Film Direction from Star Creators Film Institute, Bangalore. His career in films began in Bangalore in 2011.
Career
Throughout his career, Kiranraj has directed short films, documentaries, and music albums. In 2011, he made a tele-film, Kaavala[1] (Kannada: ಕಾವಳ, translation: The Darkness), based on the theme of upholding morality and justice in our society, and received rave reviews. His next work was Kanasu ([Dream] error: {{lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help)), a music video which articulates the values of human relationships. He later made a short film, Kabbina Haalu ([Sugarcane Juice] error: {{lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help)), based on a real-life incident, which depicts the conflict between the privileged and the underprivileged through the characters of two innocent kids. Kabbina Haalu won the Best Film Award at the Vibha South Indian Short Film Festival in the year 2013.[2] His next documentary film, The Yakshagana Puppets, was a film on puppets that has costumes from the traditional theatre form, Yakshagana,[3] and was produced by well-known Indian puppeteer K. V. Ramesh.
Kiranraj has also worked as an associate director for the Kannada feature films Endendigu, Ricky and Kirik Party.[4]
