László Rásonyi (22 January 1899 – 4 May 1984, Turkish: Lazlo Raşoni) was a Hungarian turkologist and linguist.
Life[edit]
Rásonyi graduated in the Pázmány Péter Catholic University from Hungarian history in 1921, and later doctorated from Turkic studies. From '22 to '35, he worked as a librarian in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He moved to Ankara, Turkey and was the professor of the Ankara University until 1941, when he returned to Hungary and settled in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca). From '47 to '49 he was the member of the Balkan Institute, then he worked again at the library of the MTA until 1962. In '63, he was called back to teach at the Ankara University for five years. In the scope of his research was the Hungarian and Turkish language, the history and literature of the Turkic peoples, and the Hungarian prehistory.
